I ran across this ad on Ebay and was wondering if anyone here had heard of such a car?

could be a cool piece if in fact he has the story right??? to bad its missing the orig running gear.

I remember reading some state used AMX, or Javilins for chase cars, and some used later model camaros, but don't remember seeing this year used. I remember seeing the cop sitting in the AMC with headphones on, so he was hands free.I really couldn't figure out the need for a chase car. Ia. highway patrol ran 429 police interceptor, or 440 magnum Dodge polaras. They'd run 145-150 mph. You weren't gonna out run them unless you ran the gravel roads, and that could get pretty scary.

Then there is this one, documented. Sounds like the author is the person to ask about the above car, he seems pretty knowledgable.

Not sure how rare that 402 was. My next door neighbor had a 72 402 caprice. It was confusing as may dad had a 400 small block, and the fender emblems both read 400.
East Moline squad cars ran 454s in 73, or 74. biggest dogs I ever saw. They might top out at 90 on a good day.

The ad talks about the "bad guys bleeding all over the back seats".... I think my wife would beat me and leave me for dead (in the back seat) if I picked that thing up.

All COPO's from chevrolet did not have a racing pedigree associated with them, with that said if it is original and he can prove it (with photos and documents) then it might be attractive to a police car restorer as the car would be an odd ball for sure.

The first second generation police Camaros that I can recall were the 78-79 cars that went to California...

We have two 1970 Belair 4dr Police cars at the shop. One is a 454 and the other is a 350. Both were under cover cars. It appears that the 454 car due to the some of the special equipment may have been a COPO order.
