E-bay second chance scams
I recently had My 69 X66 convertible for sale on e-bay. I listed it primarily for advertisng and it didn't meet reserve there. This is good , one of the bidders I have had contact with tring to close a deal and today he forwarded me bogus second chance offers from e-bay that he received today explaing that I had to sell the car and would honor his bid. It gets better not just 1 not 2 not 3 but 6 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif from different people claiming to own the car and attemping to make payment arrangements. E-bay has got to do something to protect their site as an unknowing buyer could be lured into buying a car like this . The offers were in e-bay form right down to buyer protection . Nice !!!!!

Re: E-bay second chance scams
I bid on a 427 a couple weeks ago. So far I have gotten 6 second chance offers from 6 different email addresses. One of them offered it to me for $1500. The auction ended at over $5000 with reserve not met.

Re: E-bay second chance scams
I've been getting a bunch of these 2nd chance offers, too. I turn them over to Ebay and they respond quickly. Also, as Charley reminded me, if it's a legit offer, it will show up in your Ebay account Email box. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: E-bay second chance scams
Just remember this. If you sign in to either paypal or ebay, look up at the address header to make sure where its going. Whats happening now is you win an auction, and a scammer sends you an invoice.Since you won the item you think its legit. All the links go to ebay except the address bar doesnt have www.ebay.xxxx thats the only way to be 100% sure....

Re: E-bay second chance scams
Only thing I don't understand is how are the scammers getting your email address from bidding on an item? Only thing that shows is your ebay handle......

Re: E-bay second chance scams
All you have to do is click on bid history and then click on any bidder on the list... brings up their profile then click contact ebay member... then it emails them.

Re: E-bay second chance scams
When you put your pointer on a link.
The bottom bar on your browser shows what it leads too. Make sure before you click on anything. Paypal is a (https) secured site = https://www.paypal.com most password protected sites will start with: "https" Be carefull......... |
