Legal stuff on Vins & 'Vinned' parts...Good & Bad!

Michigan legal stuff and from Sept '06 too...here's an interesting read!? .

Looks like lots of good stuff that makes sense too but am I wrong thinking it seems like you're legally responsible to restamp the Vin on a replacement engine? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif .
Re'stamper-crooks could have a hay-day w/ this one..."we had to do it...it's the law"??? .

What's anyone's take on this one...and on the good points too, not just the restamp part? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif .

That is a fairly scary law from many standpoints ... but it appears to have bene on the books since, at least, 2000.

It won't change a thing.

The engine restorers will stamp the vin in any old shape or size.
As they should.
The fraudulent re-stamper cloner guys will still try to duplicate the original factory markings.
(As they always have)

I think all engines should be vin stamped as a theft deterrent.
Nothing wrong with that,IMO.
