repro stamped steelies

Have any of you folks bought/used the repro stamped steel wheels, like the ones Coker sells. One of my winter projects is to get the original wheels with dog dish caps, back on my 68 as the original owner said it was delivered from the factory.

I have a real nice set of dogs, and a set of newer stamped steel wheels (thanks Tom Rightler) but the back spacing isn't quite right. Coker sells 14"X 6" stamped steel wheels, with 4&1/4 backspacing which is the same backspacing as the XE wheels originally used from the factory.

I just ordered one to see how close to original they look, but was wondering if anyone has used these wheels. If so, are you happy with the look, fit, quality, etc... Thanks, BR

BTW: I spoke to Dave Dodd last week and he said the original steel, dog dish wheels, which he still has from his 68 Chevelle, are body color (blue in this case) on the outside, black on the inside, with some blue over spray which came thru the holes in the wheels.

I have tried to find some repro 14 x 7 for Nova and Camaro applications. Stockton Wheel(CA) has a similar 14 x 6 but it didn't have the right look..maybe Coker gets them from Stockton???? Bill, sent you a PM.

It will take a little digging (Shut up Nelson), but I have all four of the original wheels from my '68 Chevelle. The car came with steelies and dog dishes. They were body color (Seafrost Green) front and black on the back with light overspray, just as described above.
I need to dig these out anyway to get the codes and dates off them. I'll be happy to get some pix if it would help.

What? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Nothing a backhoe could not do in a matter of seconds. Been over to Annie's lately? Nothing to it man, just a dumpster and a few days work with the cold beer flowing and wha-la, a garage you can actually park in. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

OK, The repro wheel came from Coker today. I order just the one wheel to see if the quality/fit was what I was looking for. I'm not always happy with many of the repro parts, but I have to say, this wheel is well made, fits perfect around the calipers, and looks almost identical to the original. The only difference I'm not 100% happy with, is the offset is off by about 3/8 of an inch. Not really noticeable to the naked eye though. The wheel can be custom ordered at an additional cost, but the difference is so slight, it's not really worth it in my opinion. The first pic is the repro wheel and the second pic is the original. The nice thing about new wheels is, they don't have rust/pitting, they don't need blasting, they are primed and ready to paint.

Are the slots shorter in the repro wheel compared to the original?

looks like the spaceing is bigger in the holes on the original rim.

Re: repro stamped steelies

Could be deceiving due to the sheen difference but it does appear the contact area of the insert is greater on the repro wheel. (Meaning the slot is shorter.) Looks like the slot opening is bigger in both dimensions on the original wheel.

Also looks like the 'nubs' for the hub cap are more defined on the original. (Of course, those will be covered anyway.)

Not meaning to be critical; just an observation.

Yes, there is about and eighth of an inch difference in the height of the slots. It wasn't enough to stop me from buying them and I'm pretty picky about this stuff. I compared the repro to an XE wheel. Not sure how it would compare to an XT or some of the others...
