Re: Gold mine of vintage photos
"Tom Hoover" from page 3 must have been THE T.H. aka Mr. Hemi. He also was in charge of Chrysler's Maximum Performance Engine Package program in the early 60's aka "max wedge". Just terrific vintage photos - THANKS!

The picturs of the 70 442 on page 7 rang a bell. I moved to Winnipeg in Mar 77 just as the track was closing (they knew I was coming). Later that year I bough a new Cutlass Supreme from Holiday Chev Olds and the dealer principal was Sherrol Haddad. Sherrol later mover to Vancouver and ran Flag Chev Olds in Surrey and that dealer is still there today. Sherrol became involved in IROC racing in the 80's and was a regular driver with guys like Ron Fellows.
Now about the 442. Around 1985 I spotted a white with red stripes 70 442 parked at the maintaince hanger at Canadian Pacific Airlines in Richmond BC. I spoke with the owner and he said the car was a factory race car (yeah right I thought). The car is still around in BC somewhere and I believe I heard about it just a few years ago. Got to be the same car. |
