How can I clean a chambered exhaust system?

Hey guys,

I think I may have scored a coup on ePay recently. I bought
( rather cheaply ) what I believe to be a complete Gardner
chambered exhaust system ( with clamps ). The system was installed
for about a year or two and it only needs to be cleaned up
to have the rust removed. My only question is how can this
be accomplished? I want to use this system on another
'69 Camaro project.

Any thoughts or suggestions on cleaning the surface rust off?
Would some type of glass beading work? The pipes
are rather long, so it would require something special.
Would perhaps one of those paint removing systems ( for
whole cars ) using plastic pellets work in this instance?

The seller of the system told me it cost almost $1,600.00
for the chambered system he auctioned. He himself didn't
buy it. The previous owner of the Camaro ( the chambered
system was on ) did. At that price range, I believe only
the Gardner system comes into play.

Probably some super fine steel wool would do the trick?

Bruce and Chuck... is there is a specific outfit or retailer where you buy the steel/bronze wool?

I have had no luck around here...

They should have it at ANY home improvement store...like Lowes or Home Depot....Look in the paint section. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

How about the rust removing solution used by njsteve in the other muscle thread. Should work great.

What do you all think about the plastic shot media concept?
It won't create excessive heat & possibly warp the pipes.
Personally, I just don't have any experience with it.
