Re: on eBay...a factory 283 '67 Camaro!
I saw that one and wondered if it was going to show up here or not. Interesting to say the least. Didn't even know they were ever made but hey you learn something new every day. So much for that old dog saying... As far as $'s go I would guess it would be of interest to a bona fide Camaro collector. Just how much I don't know but I would guess somewhere in the second generation range of high 20's to upper 30's when it is finished and back on the street. Ebay is blocked at work so I have not seen the auction since early yesterday.
A good friend of mine that collects Camaros was able to purchase a plain jane 67 with a 327/210 and manual trans. White with a red interior. The car was gorgeous with a complete nut and bolt restoration that was 3 years old. It was even an AACA Senior Award winner. He sold it but it took 12 months and he barley broke even. Got somewhere around 18-19K on it. Hard to beleive you could pick up an AACA Senior Award winner for that price. Believe it went to a dealer in Ohio where he purchased an original unrestored survivor 66 Vette. Don't know what has become of that 67 since. There's a garage in California that has some room that could use something plain, simple and not too exotic as compared to what else is currently in there.......go for it Charley that '67 Pace Car needs a playmate! |
Re: on eBay...a factory 283 '67 Camaro!
283 as I understand it was used only in the European export models which this one is. I have also heard of a few that were supposed to have made it into the very first batch run of cars in 9/66 but I have yet to see one that is documented as a true 283. There are several people currently working on exporting a number of these cars back to the US so I would expect a few more to pop up this year.

Also has power windows and a remote mirror. You don't see many Camaros with power windows or the remote mirror. Or at least I don't.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

There is an original 283 67 Camaro local to me that is for sale. Pretty rough project, but the VIN on the engine match's the door VIN. It was an export car. Guy wants 4500 for it. I can get a phone number if anyone wants it.

Although it was an AACA award winner I looked at the car and there were quite a fews things that were wrong and/or incorrect for the year and car. All fixable and a rear nice car. Rick H. |

I believe he bought it in late '03 maybe early '04. He sold it early Spring of '05. He was asking upper 20's or low 30's when it first put it out there but after that time took well below that. Sometimes you're the bug and sometimes you're the windshield.... Do you remember when and where you saw it? |

Do you remember when and where you saw it? [/ QUOTE ] It first came up on eBay a few years ago and I was very interested in the car. I remember that the deck lid was wrong and a few other items as well. The deck lid was a 1969. The other big items escape me. Sometimes I can't remember what I had for lunch and I'm trying to remember 2-3 years?? ugh! The car was real nice but really needed to be corrected. Rick H. |
