Re: 1969 L-78 carb???

It means you have to call me and get the right one https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif That is a julian date with a 3 digit day of the year and a one digit year, the production 69 4346s had a one digit year, one digit month, and one digit week. That carb you have is Jan 4 1979[best guess] it could also mean Jan 4 1989, the julian date system doesnt tell you what decade ...

Re: 1969 L-78 carb???

The #4346 was originally used on ALL 1969 Solid liftered-(Special Hi-Perf engined)-Chevrolet vehicles.
I think beginning January 1st 1973,Holley began the 4 digit date code.
The one in your pic is 004-which stands for the 4th day of the year..obviously thats January month, and the 9 is either 1979,89 or 99,as Holley re-released this carb. recently to meet the demand for the restoration industry.
As stated, this is a later issued service carburetor to replace the assembly line issued carburetor with the same part number.
