Dale Earnhardt Chev

Recently my father told me that the previous service manager at D E Chevrolet in NC left with the sales records for the dealership back to the 60's... he will for a fee provide them to current owners... if anyone has a car purchased new at the dealership he may have paperwork... when I find out more info I will post...

My parents 69 SS 396 Chevelle was sold out of that Dealership. The former name was Nuzum-Cross Chev.
The papers to this car include:
Shipper sheet
Pre-delivery sheet
Protect-o-plate
Orig. dealerships front plate
and recently aquired Bill of sale, I contacted the dealership about 8-9 years ago to see if by some chance they had copies of paperwork. He remembered the car and called me a week later telling me that he had the orig. bill of sale. He gave me a price and sent it out in the mail that very day. The guys name is Mac Hunsucker. I heard that he left the dealership sometime ago. AWESOME GUY https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Were these trash items that DEI was throwing out? Does that not sound odd that the service manager is leaving the dealership with sales records? I am all for the preservation of historical data but shouldnt the dealership maintain these records? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Dale Earnhardt Chev. was not in business in the sixties. He built that dealership after he had won several championships. Just a an interest story, the mgr. of the Dales's chevrolet dealership owned a small used car business in Concord. Dale ask to borrow a car to drive to Daytona and promised to repay him if he ever made it in racing. When he built the dealership, he gave him the Mgr's position. Kevin

While we are on this topic, is anyone familiar with
Larry Smith Chevrolet of Charlotte? My 72 Z28 was sold there new, and I have always wanted to get more info and/or paperwork for the car. I know that the dealer changed names over the years based on info that I got years ago. At one point I was in touch with the orginal owner, and he was supposed to send me some stuff, but never followed thru. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Yes, that is my understanding of how Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet came into existence as it is known today.

In his youth, Dale was impressed that high performance cars and parts could be purchased from a local Chevy dealership. He had heard of Yenko, Motion, etc and wanted to carry on their tradition. Unfortunately, his tragic death ended his vision.
