You've gotta be kidding me
Bear with me for a moment, I need to preface my rant if I may;
So there I was this morning, all set to spend some quality time in front of the `toob with one of the few automotive-related programs I can actually stomach, Hot Rod TV. As I flip over to ESPN2 to watch the program, I find that once again, ESPN2 in their inimitable wisdom has yet again preempted programming (a "new" episode, mind you) for, of all things......a fishing tournament. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Mind you, I have absolutely nothing against fish, fishing, or fishermen for that matter, but ESPN2 has taken preemptive programming to an all new level. "Enough is enough" I say to myself...so I hop over to the ESPN2 website to voice my displeasure with said programing antics. Of course, I was polite and professional, albeit somewhat sarcastic. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif Along those lines, I concluded my little email rant with "Dare I ask 'what's coming on next?'...let me guess...left-handed Bulgarian womens blindfolded inverted underwater speed basket weaving?" (that was the most inane make-believe "sport" I could conjur up) Fast-forward to this evening...again I find myself perusing the cable program guide when something..."odd"...catches my eye. I scroll back a few channels to find myself once again on ESPN2, and I honestly could not believe my eyes when I saw the program that was airing... "National Rock Paper Scissors Championships" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Don't believe me? Check the ESPN Program Guide for yourself. (9:00 p.m.) I'm just waiting for Rod Serling to show up. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif |
Re: You've gotta be kidding me
I'm with you on this. Too much poker on ESPN too. Speed used to be good but that too is garbaged up with NASCAR talk shows and not much else.
I did just watch "Victory by Design" on Speed, and I was surprised to see it on, so maybe there's hope. |
Re: You've gotta be kidding me
Eric,
I'm starting to think that they are running out of any shows of substance, hence these rediculous shows. I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of all the B-J reruns, Orange County Chopper, Boyt Coddington anything, etc.. About the only show I can stomach is "American Muscle Car". Even "Dream Car Garage" makes me want to poke the hosts eyes out sometimes...... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |
Re: You've gotta be kidding me
I really liked the Australian V8 supercar challenge races they had on a few years ago. That was real racing with a commentator that had me in tears at times.
European touring was pretty good too. I'm pretty bored with a lot of whats on these days. A lot of the how-to shows seem to cater to the limited attention span crowd these days. They hire guys with 'personality' to shout into the camera while they're busy cutting up cars. Pretty slim pickings for quality TV. John |
Re: You've gotta be kidding me
Yeah I love the way ESPN will Run what ever in front of Dragracing, run long possibly then cut qualifying. ESPN (Every Spaz Network).

Re: You've gotta be kidding me
Why watch people playing cards on TV when you have a computer that you can play cards with?

Re: You've gotta be kidding me
A tennis tournament ran about 10 minutes or so into the Champ Car race in Toronto today. And we pay for this.
