Polyglas Decode Help Needed
I have a set of F70x14 original (I think) Polyglas GT's. The code on one of them is MFLD-Y45357. It also has A14L stamped on it. Does anyone know how to decode this? Thanks

Re: Polyglas Decode Help Needed
I worked at a Goodyear Store as a kid in school as a tire buster. The reason they date coded the tires was to be able to tell if they were still under warranty (defect) and could be pro-rated. As I recall, the date code was simply stamped backwards (i.e. year, date, month) but this does not seem to apply to the stamping that you indicated. The best that I can surmise is that the tire is from 1971. Hope that helps.

Re: Polyglas Decode Help Needed
Those look circa 1977 to me.
MFLD was the Goodyear Rubber Plant in Gadsen,Ala. Y45 is the mold #. 35 is the 35th week of the year. 7 stands for the last digit of the year produced. I believe it's 1977,as Goodyear wasn't producing tires at Gadsen prior to then, and McCreary took over production soon afterwards. |
