Well, that was an interesting experience.
My Chevelle is now sans a frame. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
This is the first project I've ever taken down this far, and I must admit, it's a bit intimidating seeing that body coming up off the frame, and realizing just how much more work still lies ahead. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif On a related side-note...not that there was ever any doubt, but the frame VIN matches the one on the car. Always a plus. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif So tomorrow I start disassembling the frame. That is, if my back forgives me for today. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif Eric p.s. pics later |
Re: Well, that was an interesting experience.
Eric, Curious what your intent and motivation is to take your Chevelle project to this level....

Re: Well, that was an interesting experience.
Chuck;
Several reasons, actually... First, the car is a super-solid legitimate `67 SS396 car, so that alone warrants doing the car to a high level in my book. Secondly, I've always wanted to do a car to this extent, I've just never quite had the right "raw material" I wanted to start with. 3rd, I want to test my own skills and see just how nice I can make this car. I'm not going to the "nth" degree with the correct factory chalk marks, part tags, etc., but I am shooting for a very nice "#2" quality car. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the car will be used as a promotional tool for my business. Eric |
Re: Well, that was an interesting experience.
Go all the way, it takes just a small amount of money and time to do it to the top of the heap. When the Z was under way it was very easy to say well im just doing a very nice car but as we progressed the challenge was on to take it to the top level we could do. I have seen your work and being the perfecionist you are the best will be a natural.

If it's anything like the quality of my carb you did it will turn out super! Ron...
