Is it me or ?

Re: Is it me or ?
Yeah it sure does!! I have seen this before. I think it is from very poor body work.. When the quarters are hung incorrectly I think it gives this look.. If you look close it almost looks like the drivers side is worse than the passenger side..

How can you hang quarters several inches off ??

Re: Is it me or ?
Hey, anything is possible.. Maybe the car was wrecked at one time. I have seen some real butcher jobs out there.. Or maybe something else is screwed up with the car.. Who the hell knows!! What do you think it is???
I know one thing, I sure would not be bidding on this particular car!! Rich |
Re: Is it me or ?
More than likely the rear end housing is just not centered properly on the leaf springs.
The trans yoke should be at its furthest point out of the trans while the car is on the lift and the suspension/wheels are hanging at full extension, but the Yoke seems to be almost all the way in ???? |

Re: Is it me or ?
When doing a major model change in Oshawa, the first few cars built didn't get VIN tags. Once the body shop got the metal fitting properly, then they built cars with VINS to sell to the public. The no VIN cars were used as "yard cars" around the plant for a few years. Many were given to schools with auto tech classes. This gave the kids something to get hands on experience with. It was possible that some of these eventually snuck out the back door and onto the street. As far as the location of the rear wheels in the wheel opening, you would have to do a real butcher job to get the quarters that far off. It has to be the location of the rearend. Even the rear axle tubes locate on pins in the springs. Weird.
