What do you think about this X66 Big Block?
I'm a collector that looks at used Camaros from time to time and it just sickens me to see cars up for sale with tags that have been swiched out. Lets face it an X66, X77, X33 are more valuable than a X44 (COPO excluded). I realize why people do it ($$), but something sould be done to stop it, such as confiscate the car, crush it or blacklist it.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=290183120270 What would you like to see happen to cars such as this one? |

June VIN with February tag. Unless he listed the VIN wrong??

I checked the make it illegal to sell box, however I would add that these cars should also be placed on a listing somewhere where people have access.

Re: What do you think about this X66 Big Block?
Some thoughts:
How many Camaros have been sold in the past with missing trim tags? I've seen a few over the years...... How many Camaros have been sold with switched trim tags that we are only now able to spot? Probably a lot more...... My suggestion would be to contact the seller and let him/her know the trim tag discrepancy. If the car sale still follows through, contact eBay and suggest that they inform the purchaser that this car is questionable. However, you can see that the seller could feel that this is an infringement on their right to sell the car ( even if they did intend to pass off a fake ). But, what if the seller is trying to unload a bad purchase? Ever been in that situation? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif Lastly, and only playing devil's advocate here - even if eBay was contacted about this car being questionable, how should they proceed. What proof do they have that the tags were indeed switched? The word of one of us? Perhaps we could contact them as a group ( possibly carry more weight ). https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif I understand the issues here. But eBay is in business to make money and that as they say - is that. I doubt eBay would care unless we could prove that Adolf Hitler, or a senior member of the Nazi party owned this car... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/ooo.gif Forgive the analogy, you see my point. Has anyone bothered to call the owner and ask a few questions? I thought we lived in the USA, [ QUOTE ]

Re: What do you think about this X66 Big Block?
?? Crush a car because it has a wrong tag? PLEASE SEND ME ALL YOU CARS WITH FAKE OR WRONG TAGS, I'll gladly pay scrap price and even buy dinner. I make race cars and pro touring cars (trim tags dont matter on those cars) out of all of them and get rich during the process..

Re: What do you think about this X66 Big Block?
I guess I shouldn't have crushed that original 64 Thunderbolt I had out back because when they acid dipped the body to race it, the tag got screwed up. Oh well

Relax, it's just a poll.

Re: What do you think about this X66 Big Block?
Simply put,you cant use a trim tag for "documentation" any more than you can rely on a stamp pad for it,as both are easily changed . With a factory paperwork car however you can melt down the original engine and trim tag and make jewelry out of them, and you still have a documented car.

( I see this seller is likely a dealer with poor feedback) Peebait will do nothing as their recent block of bidders ID's has prevented educated do-gooders from informing bidders of bogus cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/Charley.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gifConfiscate and crush cars for switched trim tag?
