Parting out one car to save another?

How bad of a guy would I be if I cut up a number 2 4door to save a 2door. A friend of mine has a Pontiac Ventura II that he needs all the front end sheetmetal for. Has anyone done this sort of thing on here?

Pontiac Ventura? What, 1970-something? I say cut that 4-door up and don't look back.

Yes, my friend has a 71 1/2. We looked at a 72 four door just for the front end. It was like pristine! Didn't know if that would be a foul move.

I just recently read the post on that very thing. There is another issue I have regarding that "numbers" swap. Are there hidden numbers in uni-body rear frame rails? I have an original 71 A/C Nova with a bent rear rail and I dont want to throw the car away because the rest of it is in great shape. I read the post about swapping numbers and "rebodied" vs. restored. I am kinda second guessing fixing it after reading that. But what happens when they do finally reproduce the rear frame rails for these cars? UGH! What a mind blowing topic.

No, the frame rails don't have any relevant numbers that I've ever found. I just sold a pair on Ebay that I salvaged from a parts car.

Really? It looked to me as if they were stamped from the inside of the rear rail near the tail pan, just behind the rear shackle mount.

I had a swap meet customer give me one of those magnetic signs...It said.. "Anyone can restore them, but it takes a real man to cut one up". With a four door, no horse, snoozer.....It's a no brainer. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif
