Where do I even begin? Are these that valuble now? That price just seems overly excessive for an internal engine part. It's not something external that someone can point out and brag about rarity. In fact, with today's oil situation it can be quite risky losing these and maybe a camshaft lobe. I recently put into service a pretty hot solid lifter camshaft from Comp Cams along with their new solid lifters with the hole that's EDM'd pn the bottom. Nice pieces. Tiny hole, you can barely see it, but when you pump the lifter with an oil can, you can see the hole on the bottom weep oil. Great feature.

Did you see the NOS ZL-1 cam?

Well there you go.......$2451 for a cam and lifter set. I bet that seller's happy and took a day off of work! That camshaft is everywhere as it was available in EVERY LS-7 ever made. Hell, I've used new take-out's as wheel chucks in the driveway. Can you imagine the amount of camshaft pre-lube that will used to make sure these parts live during break-in? I'd be sweating bullets those first few minutes of operation!

Watch for the seller's next auction of a case of vintage CI-rated Rotella 15W40 motor oil! I bet it hits $2000 for the case. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Perhaps Mark the new owner will let us all know since I recall he is a paying member of this site.
I will ask one question. If you were trying to rebuild an original ZL-1 engine with all GM parts what is this set up worth to you vs the value of the engine being completed.
I think the prices being paid today for any NOS GM item is way beyond what any of us would have estimated even 5 years ago but the stashes are drying up and they are not making anymore of these items.
I just wish I had of saved a lot more of what I sold for pennies in the late 80's.Back then if I didnot have 4-6 of these NOS ZL-1 GM set ups on the shelf I knew my friend would have a couple since we ran these in every L-72 and LS-6 that we raced. Today we could not produce a NOS GM solid lifter between us.So congrats to both seller and buyer https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

There may be more congrats coming to this seller. He's got a pair of nice 074 heads, "unported", that would be just right for a few pure stock racers I know.

074 heads

Dates are June 26 and 27 of 1973, but they look pretty good.
