Re: small block numbers help
I once saw a #386 block for sale with 4 bolt mains.
I assumed it was a 302 or 350cid designation, but after I turned it rightside up I saw the FB code, which designated 327cid/235HP. The pad & mains looked authentic,so I contacted another more knowledgeable who told me the majority of #386 blocks were 4 bolt mains, but some are reported to have 2.Not over a Dec.68 casting I think he said. It was possible,as the #386 block shared all three engine displacements. He said the #618 block that soon superceded it,was more commonly found in 2 bolt design when reflecting an FB application. |
