Smog pump disassemble

Has anyone tried to take a A.I.R. pump front bearing out ?
I got the back off real easy, I tried a little heat on the aluminum housing and tried tapping the bearing on the outer race with a socket. It seems to be held in place somehow ?
I do not want to get to crazy with it, the case looks thin.

I may just give in and take it down to Bill Hodel, it just pisses me off when I can't get something apart, Arggg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif

I do not see any bearing retentsion nut and it appears that the bearing journal is free and clear so I would imagine that a rebuilder either presses out the shaft or uses a puller in the push configuration, if those two holes I see are threaded. The bearing has an interferance fit of a few thousanths and will require effort. Be careful with that alum.

The 2 holes on either side of the bearing were used to inject a plastic that surrounded the bearing and retained it to the pump body- same principle as some newer u-joint caps. I would think that heating it would help, but you may need to press it out.

Thats what I kind of figured out, those two holes have a plastic material in them.
