454 block
 

A friend got a 454 block and we are lost on the numbers on the front pad it has t0625crr and on the back of the block it has 3999289 and it is 4 bolt mains any info would be great.

That is coded as a 1970 Chevelle 454/450hp with TH400 transmission. The casting number puts it as a 1972 or later dated block.

yes thats were we get lost the date code on back of block is E-2-0 ment to put that in the first post?

I'm not aware of any casting dates after the '69 model year using only a single digit to represent the year of manufacture. I believe that stopped with the 1969 castings. Every 1970 and later cylinder case for 454 usage has as an example A 27 70 or B 17 71.
