Speed Kills 5

Alcohol fueled BMW M5 tries to fly, failing miserably. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif

My math isn't what it used to be, but if you leave an 85' high berm, travel 200' and hit a tree 15' from the ground, they must have been at WOT at the end of the airstrip. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif
Gives new meaning to the expression "Terminal Velocity". https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

It aint the speed that kills you, it's the sudden stop. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/ooo.gif

I'll bet at least one of the families tries to sue Travolta (probably has the deepest pockets of the airport residents) for not better securing vehicular access to the runway.

Sorry but examining details of this tragic story or debating the right or wrong of whatever the families may do next have no interest to me personally...I can only think of sympathy and prayers for those who've lost their children, siblings and friends and who's lives must now continue on without them..

Re: Speed Kills 5

It is so sad,

I have a four year old son who already is in love with cars and rides his (restricted throttle) four wheeler with a ton of attitude and skill. We already had his sister break her elbow at 6 years old riding a two wheeler with mid-ship training wheels and she went over the bars at 3 mph around a turn and her elbow snapped because she wouldn't let go of the bars. One night in the hospital, one screw and an operation, one cast and she was all fixed up. She decided to become a "real girl" after that ( I was trying to raise her as a boy). The doctors gave me every story about the "risks" of dirt bikes and atvs, somehow I'm still here at 45 years of age.

I guess my point is somehow I want to scare the hell out of my kids but not break there love of things mechanical
and the I want them to share the joy that I have gotten out of cars and bikes. I do feel for these families and I have done my share of stupid things in the past.

We have all done some foolish things growing up but you need to respect the machinery you are operating.
My sympathy to all the families involved.
