The Seven-Ups Car Chase
This is THE best chase scene ever filmed.
Not sure if it was covered here but I'm sure you have all heard that ‘Jaws’ star Roy Scheider died at 75 last Sunday. He had been a long time business client of my wife and recently a neighbor of ours. Though I never took him out on my boat he was easy to kid around with. My favorite ( not that "need a bigger boat" line) was to joke about his driving in one of the all time great cop movie car chase scenes. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif Rest In Peace Roy, thanks for the laughs. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |

Re: The Seven-Ups Car Chase
One thing has always troubled me about car "action" scenes.
Why do hoods seem prone to pop open when someone shoots at the front end of a car? What happens to the hinges? Do they both get blown to atoms so they aren't visible as the hood goes flying off.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif Like most other things hollywood, they seem to gear their somewhat technical information for the uneducated. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif Steve |
Re: The Seven-Ups Car Chase
Am I dreaming or does the driver of the black car look like one of the guys who was in the black Charger during the Bullitt chase scene???? I know the engine sound effects sure sound the same.

Re: The Seven-Ups Car Chase
Yes, that's what's-his-face the black Charger driver from Bullitt and yes, they used the 390 Mustang sound effect for the Ventura, minus the McQueen double-clutch up-shifts.

Re: The Seven-Ups Car Chase
I think that Roy got to film this to make up for Gene Hackman's car chase in the "French Connection". The "Seven Ups" was a simular crime/cop/caper movie, only Roy was the lead instead of the partner.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070672/plotsummary RIP Roy, you were one of the greats. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif |
Re: The Seven-Ups Car Chase
yes ,i was thinking the same thing ,wondering is this the same driver from bullitt, must have been a good driver for the chase scenes

Re: The Seven-Ups Car Chase
That's Bill Hickman, one of the best of that era. They borrowed heavily from Bullitt in this chase.Little bit of trivia about Hickman he started racing sports cars with the likes of Phil Hill and Dan Gurney in the fifties out here, and was the first on the scene of his freind James Dean's accident.Dean let out his last breath in his arms on the side of the road.

I like the red convertible Chevelle that's waiting at the first intersection.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
