Re: Motor oil

Yes,i heard that Rotella is watered down a little, but the new Rotella still has enough zinc for our flat tappet cams.

Re: Motor oil

Sam, The debates over the best oil for our old cars, especially those with solid lifters, can go on forever. Rather than debate over brand names, I think the rating is the only important thing to look for. Any oil with a CI-4 Plus or CJ-4 rating will contain the best additive package for our cars. That's the oil I'm running in the '62 and the oil I'll use for break-in of the new '09 when it's done.

You are right Verne! Pete likes Brad Penn. If that is now better than Rotella I am going to start using it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif like you said!

I just had a discussion with the fellow that rebuilt the motor for my L72 '69. His recommendation for my needs (available at NAPA stores and not for use in catalytic equipped vehicles) is Valvoline Racing "Not Street Legal" 20w-50.

ps - The engine dynoed at 519hp @ 6100rpm and 493fpt @ 4600 rpm https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif
