Quick coil question
I have a good/working, dent free 293 coil. Am I correct in thinking this coil would have been used for a 69 L-78?.. If so, what gloss black should it be? It looks fairly glossy now, but could easily be painted satin.

Re: Quick coil question
A 293 is correct I believe for that motor. I have always seen them like a 60% gloss. More gloss than not. I would use it.

Re: Quick coil question
Ive always seen them to be fairly glossy. One thing to keep in mind is that the p# on the coil was for the coil/bracket assembly, not the coil itself.

Re: Quick coil question
More accurately the quote should be:
[ QUOTE ] "The production assembly-line coil was supplied from Delco-Remy with the mounting bracket already attached, and the part number in the assembly manual is the number for that ASSEMBLY, not for the coil by itself." [/ QUOTE ] The numbers on the coil are the last digits of the actual coil (by itself) part number. |
Re: Quick coil question
I think there were 3 different bracket styles. The 69 Z/28 took 298 which was embossed on the coil. That bracket kept the coil away from the chrome air cleaner.

Re: Quick coil question
Thanks guys. The coil has an original bracket which tilts back to keep it from hitting the air cleaner. It sounds like it's right for this engine. Done deal. It's fairly shiny, and on the engine. One more piece of the puzzle.
Just need the carb and smog back from resto, and the chassis is finished!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif |
