Raising Garage Door Tacks?

Does anyone have any idea of what it costs to raise garage door tracks up to clear a lift? I was hoping to have the tracks raised on the new house but the builder went ahead and installed them last week before I had a chance to speak with them...

If you want the commercial type that goes straight up, that would require a different type of mechanism to open and close door. Probably about a grand more than a traditional unit.

If you just want someone to come out and run some higher tracks that might only cost $200 to $500

I had to have that done at my old house. Not every garage door company does it. Don't know why though because it's not that big of a deal.

I did it at my house. You have to find a garage door installer that is willing to sell you the torsion mech (based on weight), spare tracks and extra panels. Here are some pics. Since these have been takem, I added an opener. Its very tight at the top, but does work and clears the Camaro https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Here is a good reference site on the torsion springs.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help!

As you can see from the attached pic, I have about 4 feet clear under the ceiling, so I should have no problem clearing the cars with the door once it is raised. I have asked the installation company for a quote, but no response so far...

I wish we had more space here James, but we live in the city and land is at a huge premium. We have no choice but to stack cars with a lift. The two bays on the right are off-limits to everyone else...they get the bay on the left for their junk https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
