Perserving original 69-70 vintage tires

Have some original E70-14 Firestone Red line wide ovals, nice shape, dirty, dingy etc. What is the best way to clean these and what is the best tire dressing to apply to keep them as fresh as possible.? Thanks

Years ago they used brake fluid to clean tires. Probably not an acceptable product by today's EPA standards. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

Have you tried Westley's Bleach White? Or Simple Green and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Use Vinylex or Meguiars vinyl and rubber cleaner/conditioner. Both work excellent and can be purchased at the local Murrays auto parts store...

Sully, I like Comet and a scrub brush. SOS or Brillo pads on RWL's. If there is paint or overspray on them a good thinner or WD-40 removes that stuff. Armoral or Mothers vinyl dressing works great afterwards too. My favorite hobby is cleaning old tires! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

If they could clean tires, imagine what they can do to your innards! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

Don't laugh. Clean them with a mild solution of Tide and pat dry. No tire dressing needed. Store away from sunlight in a cool, dry area standing upright uncovered.
