Relocating shocks on '67 Camaro Drag Car???

1 Attachment(s)
I'm considering a '67 Camaro that spent some time as a drag car in it's life. The owner sent me some trunk shots today and I noticed that the left shock has been relocated about 6 inches towards the rear of the car. I've never seen this before, but have to assume that it had something to do with wheel hop when racing???? Anyone ever hear of this or know why someone would do this? BTW, the car is not rusty...

was this done to stagger the shocks like the 68 69 cars?

That is the only thing that I can think of as the other shock is in the factory location.

some guys did it to control the terrible wheel hop the '67's have.

You can bet a dime to a donut that the shock was moved to
better control the wheel hop.Or the trunk pan was replaced with a new one and the new trunk pan had both locations for use on either a 67 or a 68??
