Corvette Toy..what is this

I've had this since I was a kid and cant recall it's origin (I was too young).
All I can recall is that it ran by the paper stick you inserted.

Can anyone ID this and tell me it's history?

------Im not sure about the toy (which is very cool), but the car appears to be a stylized Astro Vette which was a GM sowcar back in the day.......Bill S

I had one of these when I was a kid.
They're called Amaze-A-Matics made by Hasbro & came out in 1970 as a really a pretty ingenious toy for it's time.
I remember the futuristic saturday morning commercials for these as they were marketed as the "cars with a brain".
I think they made 4 different models in all.A Corvette,Buick,Ford,and Chrylser.Look HERE.
You put batteries in it that made the rear wheels start turning, then you inserted the different program cards with precut notches that you cut out,to make different steering patterns. The motor would slowly progress that card by itself through the bottom of the chassis and into the front steering linkage to tell it when to start & stop & where and when to turn at what angle. You'd watch it go around the room and furniture as you programed,or around the pylons they included with each car.
We used to pop the bodies off & put a small amount of Kal-Kan inside, then watch our dogs chase & hunt them till the sun went down. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Here's the one I had..

Very cool - I'm amazed there is no interest in the ones selling on E-bay.

Wow, "Hasbro." I haven't heard that name in a LONG time! Didn't they make the Lite-Brite?

(Do not taunt Happy-Fun Ball.)

I can still hear the Lite Brite commercials echoing in my mind...at the end a voice came on and said "with refills you can make Bugs Bunny or Bozo the clown"!
