Thanks for the leads so far! My buddy would like to stay in the $50k-$60k range, documented, and he's gonna drive it so it need not be a 1000pt car...is this is a pipe dream?

Other than the heat/weight issues, was the cast iron+quadrajet setup negligibly "worse" than the aluminum+holley setup? I would think the open element air cleaner would be better...

IMHO, a good set of factory heads would work fine, especially no bigger of a cam than you're looking at...matter of fact, a good set of oval ports is a pretty formidable setup.

I also have the Pypes transverse Race Pro w/ x-pipe...but I run exhaust manifolds. Picked up 1+ mph and a tenth or more over a Flowmaster setup...in Pure Stock trim it's run a best of 11.73 @ 118 on...
