I had 'The Clock Works' in Eagle River WI restore the clock in my 69 Chevelle convert almost 15 years ago with the original movement (non-quartz). It's still working.

Yes, the washer holds the small spring in place. The 2 shoulders on that slotted piece ride on the washer, and compress the small spring when you shift to reverse.

I'd try to find something that wasn't flammable. I caught my carburetor on fire about a dozen times Thrusday. If I had a foam filter on it I might not have a car now.

Hurst shifter overload

I scored awesome find of NOS hurst shifters. Most of them are complete and unused. A little bit of everything, 3 speed and 4 speed. Boxes are dirty and dusty, but the shifters are fantastic.

We've probably talked about this before, but I don't remember. Are the spring perches damaged or gone? Axle bearings and seals are easy. They are the same for almost every car 7.5, 8.2, 8.5 and 12...

I'll vouch for Graeme's stuff....NOS 8" are tough to find....as are MINT 4". No driver quality here.... these are for "when only the best will do". I've heard horror stories about rechroming old...
