I'd consider something with easily reversible modifications or even a crate engine if it's done in a subtle way. Too many local registration hassles these days when trying to register a modified car...

15x8 with a 4.5” backspace is the sweet spot on the rear of a 67/68. With a 15x8.5 and 3.8” backspacing you’ll have the wheel sticking out of the wheel well.
