2 versions of the 660 housing. One has numbers on the neck as shown, other is on the base. Both have the tab. If no tab, then it is a 128 housing.

Yes, they used a gang stamp.
The trans and engine were stamped at the same time.
Both those VIN stamps should be the same.

Just get a can of hi temp engine paint, and go for it.
Make sure the surface is clean.

No fancy paint or anything - later on, it makes it easy to touch up too. ...
