The truth was that the L68 was going to be available, or the hood was a homage to that engine that ended up not being installed?

The outside is red too. It's prob a graphics design thing.

Anyway, I don't care for Gobi Beige (website says the wrong color, if I recall), but the gold vinyl top really helps make it attractive....

I see what you're saying - it makes sense, to a point - but I remain unconvinced. However, I don't have a better theory.

Pontiac didn't hold back with its offerings despite the Firebird, FWIW.

Thanks for posting. Personally, I'd be careful when posting stuff that isn't a document, even if documents can be wrong too.

For example, the 1968 Pontiac brochure shows 3-speed on the column for...

1967-68 SS 427 question

Did Chevrolet ever offer a floor-shifted 3-speed for big cars? Or was the standard transmission for the SS 427 in 1967-68 a column-shifted 3-speed? Thank you!

ADDENDUM: 1969 too!

Who knows? But it's curious that the seller doesn't know the true identity of the car when it's right in front of him.

I wonder if I would have made the same mistake?

Thanks for your response, but I'm more curious about this:

- Why was the L79 not available in the Chevelle in 1966? To not compete with the new SS 396? Okay, but it returned for 1967 (now rated...

So what's the deal on L79s?

Excepting the Corvette, it was introduced in 1965 for the A-body, then in 1966 it went MIA but now was available for the Chevy II.

And then it reappeared for the A-body for 1967 but then seemed to...

It may even have been Ringoes. I'd guess early 1990s. I'm overseas currently so I can't look in my stash, but look out for a drag test among a few cars.

Baron, do we know for a fact there were 4 in Carousel Red? Someone asked me if it's documented or simply assumed.

And all are indeed accounted for? I only know of two but I'm not in-the-know.
