Re: Whats it worth{should I sell it}
I would have figured that it was worth less undecked since it had another car's partial VIN on it.It was bored fresh .030" over when I got it,but I had $700 worth of .060 pistons so I went another .030.It has about 130 runs on this bore job which means it shouldnt need to be bored again,but if it did,that wouldnt be a big deal.Another thing was that the block was dropped and the outer starter bolt boss was broken about half way up,and I had it NiRod welded and it looks like nothing ever happened,but since I paid $250 for the block as a damaged piece,it didnt really mean anything to me.I also have 2 sets of date code correct closed chamber heads,and a 6223 crank that is currently in the engine.I would imagine that a corvette guy would want to restamp this engine anyhow.I guess if when I pull it,it is still on one piece{I threw the rods out of both side of my original LS6 engine the last time} I will try and sell it.Thanks,it sounds like I have an interesting piece.
The funny thing was that I bought this block from my old machine shop guy who was retiring.He called me up and told me to come rummage through all his bigblock parts before the recyclers get there.After getting some heads and oil pans and other small things he told me he had some done blocks,a .040 over 400 and a .030 over 396.Turns out he didnt even remember that it was a 427.Both blocks were dropped off there many years ago.I bought both of them,the 427 is in my race car now,and the 400 is awaiting the finishing of my 73 camaro,but it may make a quick stop over under the hood of my 89 Mustang just for fun.Its funny how we find thing when we dont even need them.
