Default 4800HP-185 MPH-2000 feet. B-17 ride!

Today Joe and I took my Dad to the Arnold Palmer Airport for the 1st Wings and Wheels event. My Dad was a professional pilot for years. We surprised him with a ride in the B-17...What a rush. You are free to move about the B-17 from the minute it leaves the ground. My seat was directly behind the pilots so my view was great. We buzzed the runway while I was seated in the nose of the bomber at tree top level...here are some pictures. This is a must do for any WWII airplane junkie..BKH

BEST seat in the house. That small oval window is open with air rushing in at 180 MPH..

My buddy Steve in the bomber seat...

Behind the pilots is an emergency escape exit. There is no cover over it, so you can stick you head out of the plane and get this wild picture at 180 MPH...

Buzzing the runway low and fast...

Pittsburgh Dragway or Keystone for the older guys...BKH

The beautiful 9 cylinder Curtiss Wright 1820-97 engines at work..What a sound...BKH
