This is an original 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Distributor for the 327/340 HP Manual Transmission application. The ID Tag is still intact and reads 1110985 with a date code of 1 J 4 which translates into September 4, 1961 and is a great early in the year date which would work in most 1962 Corvettes as correct. This was an original Delco Remy Dual Point with NO Vacuum Advance Distributor but a Magnetic Pickup has been installed at sometime in the distributor's life. The #1110985 1962 Corvette Distributor was a very desirable unit for Drag Cars in the Sixties & Seventies especially after Bill Jenkins specifically recommended them in his famous 1976 book, The Chevrolet Racing Engine. The main shaft turns freely with no bind and so does the Tach Drive mechanism making this Distributor a great candidate for a 1962 Corvette restoration or a period correct, vintage-era Drag Car restoration or recreation.
