Thanks Ray I am guessing you had one of those great LS6s in the chevelle row: Did you see it at MCACN.

The rims were made in Van Nuys. I wonder if Rug went to the factory to pick them up. The days of buy American (actually Appliance). The cool thing about this thread is that I have completed more research on making my w-30 one of the most correct restorations possible. So I now know what rims Rug the original owner bought for the car.

During the restoration, the classic oldsmobile site saved me making a mistake on the replacement of my aluminum w-27 rear end cover. Mine had a fin ground off and the restoration shop thought it was junk. Turned out one of the experts on the w-27 rear end found a technical bulletin for California only emission vehicles. So 49 states did not have the fin ground off. California cars in 1970 w-30s had a different gas tank, extra fuel line and emission canister. Saved the cover and was able to document the ground off fin.
