The power steering has a yellow decal, not paint.

The yellow on the sides of the block will likely be the engine application code of 'CTC', typically written on both sides, in yellow crayon, upside down.

I agree with you Ken, putting a block through the metal ax procedure after so many heat cycles normally doesn't 'relax' it very much but mine had a little bit of stress in it per the graph printout I received. In theory, I probably should have metal ax'd it after the machining was done....
