Which engine bearings ...
Back in the day, it was pretty easy to select bearings (rods, mains, cam) for Chevy engines. There was the Moraine, Federal Mogul and later the infamous Clevite 77s. I have used the Clevite 77 “P” bearings in Hi Po Street SBC and BBC motors with very good results.
Now days, if you looking for bearings, the Clevite “P” designation along with “H”, “K”, “V”, etc. are available. Also, there appears to be more players such as King, Dura-Bond, ACL and others with descriptions/properties to include Tri-Metal, TriArmor, Silicon Bi-Metal, Fluoropolymer, Moly/Graphite, PTFE polymer, Silicon Alecular, Aluglide, etc.
So the question I pose to the experts here – how do I separate fact from fantasy? What is a good bearing for 95% street use with an occasional blast down the 1320?
