Re: Miixteca Cruise 10/15/2016
That shot of the Money Olds 442 reminds me of a "Happening" at the old Bee Line dragstrip. I was running a friends car and we were of side off of the shutdown checking the plugs (reading em'). A couple dragsters were running and the Money Olds dragster was one of them. Those who have been around a dragstrip will agree a person gets used to sounds, etc. during the event. I remember hearing the dragsters launch and hear them shut down. About that time I looked up and the Money Olds machine went by at a pretty good clip -- no laundry (pin streamer blowin' in the wind)!! He went off the end of the strip -- hell of a wreck ... engine went one way and pieces parts scattered all over. My friend and I started in that direction and the safety trucks and some of the Money Olds crew stopped at the wreck. The driver had already climbed out and appeared to be OK. One dude walked up to him and the driver knocked him on his a$$ -- told my friend ... "thats the dude who was supposed to pull the safety pin on the drag chute". I have pictures somewhere of a couple of pickup trucks loaded up with parts of the car heading back to the pit area. TAZ
