So yea it looks a bit confusing... the long and the short of it is that the engine was mostly painted orange the primary differences being the amount of over spray and assembly order differences between both engine manufacturing plants. </div></div>

I understand all that. My question was: Why do some have a chrome air cleaner lid and others (like mine) have a black lid? That has nothing to do with the engine plant.
Was that an owner added detail, or were certain models treated differently?
