I was reading some of the Pontiac letters sent to owners waiting for the 73 455 super duty cars (I can post if you want), and they said the engines were mostly hand built.

So I have to ask, wouldn't a 67 435HP 427 be mostly hand built? That to me is a complicated beast. Or maybe an L88.

Don't people touch most of these high end engines anyways?

Had to ask the experts out there, i.e. what makes an engine mostly hand built out of GM.

Maybe pontiac was stretching things a bit on the 73-74 super duty engines when informing the owner waiting for their cars. Or maybe they weren't.
