I have a soft spot for this year Impala. My in-laws bought a 283 pglide convertible brand new and still own it today. Still all original paint in Bolero red with a white interior and white top. I asked my father in law why he ordered a 283 instead of a 327. He simply said that the 283 was a tried and true engine since 1957, why would he take a chance on a 327? That car drives as smooth as silk and has never had a valve cover off or water pump changed.
