In 1969 the only 396 available for Chevrolet's Full Size cars was a 265 HP 2BBL. The 325 HP 4BBL was not an option. If you wanted more power you could choose the 1 year only 427/335 HP 4BBL engine which would be the next step up from the 396/265 HP.
