The '65 and '66 cars shown use a 7.75x14 or similar size tire like my first pic, the Goodyear Power Cushion from a '66 Chevelle SS. A different animal.
'67 was the introduction of the wide oval 70 series tires.
My center pic (with the 837 job #) is from a '67 Chevelle SS, a Firestone Super Sport Wide Oval, F70x14. Although it is a white stripe, the placement is the same as red stripe.
The bottom tire is also from a '67 Chevelle, but it is a Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread, F70x14, and the stripe is closer to the rim. So yes, manufacturer does make a difference.
So, the red Firebird that sparked this discussion would be wearing Firestone Wide Ovals, while some of the other '67s (the pace car) likely Goodyear Speedways.
