Were the door strikers painted body color in 65?

The more I look at this car, the more it appears to have been restored, rather than a survivor. Auction listing doesn't commit one way or another.

I have a hard time believing the carpet is original. Really bright. Even when stored mostly in doors, they tend to fade, especially red.

Vin has one rosette rivet and one round rivet, making me wonder if it has been off the car.

Firewall paint does not look factory at all.

Never seen such pristine FACTORY APPLIED black paint on lower control arms and frame, even at 16k miles.

Many of today's buyers don't care at all as far as restored vs survivor. Lots of big $$$$ changing hands the last six months.

$35k for a powerglide 283 El Camino is pretty strong.
