The original engine needed rebuilt at 150k. Why rebuild two engines, and have one laying around. And, the cost and hassle of reinstalling the original engine when you sell it.
Adding an extra 50-75 hp/torque to a stock appearance engine with better rods, pistons, more stroke doesn't ruin an engine. The cost is almost the same using new, stronger parts, than 150k rebuilt Mickey mouse Pontiac parts.
