I've been finance and banking with real estate experience, and from what I have seen over the years and through my own RE buying experience and familial RE ownership experience, I would recommend single family real estate as your first step into that realm. Commercial RE is much more stable as far as rentals from my experience. People generally will spend their last dime to stay in their home versus if the business environment goes south and they can bail on their commercial leases. And, you can always hire a rental agent and management company if you don't want to deal with renters. Just my experience and opinions. PM me if you want to hear more. Best of luck.
