I appreciate the input very much! Last year circa end of September a local Corvette Shop right down the road from me was having a going out of business online auction and, I went down to chat with the owner...actually I went to talk with him about my carburetor woes when he told me he was finally retiring (Vietnam Vet about my age). I got really excited seeing one of two boxes filled with old carburetors...one was dated 1968 (off a Vette) and I wanted to snag that box, but unfortunately on-line auctions like that can really go fast after waiting a long time, so I actually missed out on "both" boxes of carburetors! I wanted to get at least one to take apart and learn from if nothing else. Then sell the others on ebay.

Most of the places I've found won't give you a date correct carb to start with....won't even look! So, I'd prefer to find one and rebuild it myself or go to someone trusted...like who you've recommended. I just don't trust some of these ebay guys, especially with ratings in the 96% range or lower!

I tend to agree that the 210 Late Rochester would be a good fit for my 3rd week in May Chevelle SS. My first Chevelle SS was a second week in June build but it had a Holley 780 cfm Carburetor from the factory! Yes, it was 1 of the 612 L78 Chevelles in 1967! Still sick I let that one go! I prefer Holleys too, but I'm learning that the Quadrajet can be just fine once it is set-up properly.
