1965 442 Post Coupe - Motor Wheel Spyders + UPDATE
I posted late last year about my acquisition of a nice set of "14 Motor Wheel Spyders and if they were appropriate for my recently acquired '65 442. After a lot of research and deliberation for a tire choice I finally opted for the Firestone Wide Oval Redline tires. GR70-14. Part #55290. Unlike the Goodyear Polyglas radials that look more like a truck tire, these are a very close look to a true bias ply. Ride quality is as expected excellent compared to the older than dirt Mickey Thompson bias ply's that served well for over three decades.
As a side note I took it to a friend's open house yesterday for his classic car business 45 miles away and the old girl performed perfectly without a hitch. Surprisingly thrifty on gas too. Used roughly 5 gallons on the trip. 3.23 gears and no freeway driving.
Some before and after pics to share. I'm pleased with the look and I highly doubt these is another '65 442 with Spyders on it (I've never seen one with them.)
Thanks to all who responded to my original post. Yenko.net is my go to page and has been for many years. Goes well with my morning coffee!
