The original owner ordered this L-88 to compete in club autocross races.
However, the power of the engine vs. the stock F70x15 tires and a 4.56:1
axle, were anything but successful.

Yes, the car was drag raced by the original owner, but I wouldn't say that
it was raced "hard". After a very short period of time, the original owner
lost interest in the car and it was parked from 1970 to 1972. The marks
from where the drag slicks rubbed on the edge of the rear fenders are
still visible today.

The second owner bought the car to make into a road race car. He drove
it on the street only once. In that single drive he got arrested for no license
plates, no insurance, speeding, unsafe start (squealing tires) and I believe
a couple more things. I was also told that the power of this car on the
street scared him! This prompted him to park the car and disassemble
it. His race project never came to be and he sold it the third owner in 1975, disassembled.

That owner kept the car well preserved, but disassembled, until 1988, when he became motivated to take the L-88 to Bloomington and be a part of "Earthquake 88". The car was reassembled and remains in that same condition today, with only 2531 miles.

The car was just recently fully cleaned, inspected, and detailed by a very reputable restoration shop, the engine was removed for cleaning and inspection, everything was found to be in excellent condition, a few things were replaced that could have gone bad with age, it was then re assembled to perfect original condition.

I would not classify this as a restoration when 99% of the componants on this car are original. For those of you who have an interest in purchasing this car, I have been contracted to sell it, after advertising in different venues and after the Bloomington show this car will be going on Ebay, so may the best bidder win.
